£55,000-75,000 per annum

The Head of SEO role is perfect for anyone looking to use their experience and a build an SEO team, with this role combining both an internal and external focus. The internal focus requires you to manage and develop a growing team while developing our SEO process and procedures to make the business run smoothly and successfully. The external focus requires you to work with a range of existing customers and identify potential new customers. You will be working closely with the founder & CEO of Ink Digital, Michael, and will be making decisions that affect how the business progresses.

Job Details

Core duties of the Head of SEO

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Line manage and develop the wider SEO team through training and liaising with the Founder and Head of Digital on recruitment
  • Project manage larger client projects
  • Support new business pitches and discovery calls
  • Establish partnerships with other agency outlets
  • Work alongside the team on development of monthly SEO reports
  • Develop and improve SEO processes and seamless onboarding for customers
  • Build SEO strategies for clients
  • Implement SEO strategy working alongside content and outreach team
  • Work with the internal developer and client development teams
  • Use SEO tools such as SEM Rush, Google Analytics, Google Search Console & Majestic SEO
  • Build reports highlighting on-site/technical issues using tools such as Screaming Frog
  • Implement technical SEO changes
  • Implement optimisation changes through a range of CMS platforms
  • Work through results with clients via a call or in a meeting
  • Keep up to date with digital marketing trends
  • Manage a content team & outreach team from a training perspective
  • Implement link building & content marketing tactics

 

The ideal Head of SEO

This role is hands-on, and you will be expected to be visible and in the office. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • Confident communicator (written and verbal) with the ability to explain complex problems and solutions in layman’s terms
  • A passion for excellent customer service
  • A genuine interest in people and their wellbeing
  • Experience of business development including attending pitches and spotting opportunities
  • Experience of working in an SEO agency in a SEO lead role
  • Strong at technical SEO and overall SEO strategy
  • Strong understanding of on-site SEO, SEO content and link building
  • Managing various large projects and clients (£5k+ p/m on SEO)
  • Leading or participating in commercial conversations with clients
  • Strong experience with SEM Rush & Screaming Frog
  • Strong experience using WordPress or Shopify
  • Strong experience using Google Analytics (UA or GA4)
  • A positive “can do” attitude – able to motivate yourself and others around you
  • An eagerness to learn and improve within the role and to encourage others to do the same
  • An understanding of CRO is a bonus but not essential
  • Understanding of other digital channels is a bonus but not essential
  • International SEO experience is a bonus but not essential
