Part-Time WordPress Developer (6-month contract)

£20,000-25,000 per annum

Job Title: Part-Time WordPress Developer (6-month contract)
Salary: Depending on experience
Location: Brentwood, Essex (Hybrid – 2 or 3 days/week, split between office and remote)

About Ink Digital

Ink Digital is a growing digital marketing agency based in Brentwood, Essex. We specialise in SEO, PPC, Web Design & Development, and HubSpot services. Our team supports a mix of B2B, travel, fashion and local businesses — helping them grow online with performance-focused digital strategies.

We’re now looking for a Part-Time WordPress Developer to support our SEO and web teams with technical implementation, WordPress builds and front-end changes.

This is a great opportunity for someone with agency or freelance experience, who enjoys the variety of working across multiple sites, improving performance, and bringing designs to life.

About the Role

You’ll work across a mix of internal and client web projects — focused mostly on WordPress. One day it might be supporting a site migration, the next improving page speed or implementing redirects and CRO changes.

You’ll work closely with our SEO team to ensure technical recommendations are properly implemented, and also support with web design tasks, banners and Shopify tweaks where needed.

This role is part-time (2 or 3 days a week), and we’re flexible on working days and pattern — with at least one office day in Brentwood.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support technical SEO implementation – including redirects, speed improvements, site structure and on-page fixes

  • Design and build front-end pages in WordPress

  • WordPress theme and plugin development (customising or building as needed)

  • Assist with site migrations and set-up of staging/live environments

  • Make CRO-led improvements to page layouts and user flows

  • Support the SEO team on technical tasks that need development support

  • Light Shopify development work (theme tweaks, design changes)

  • Design and implement banners for websites (static or simple animated)

  • Collaborate with our internal team to scope and quote work as needed

About You

  • Strong experience with WordPress (custom theme, plugin development, Elementor or similar builders)

  • Comfortable writing and editing HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP

  • Some experience with Shopify (liquid templates, theme customisation)

  • Understanding of responsive design principles and front-end best practice

  • Experience working with SEO or marketing teams (not essential, but helpful)

  • Able to work on multiple sites and switch between client projects

  • CRO or UX knowledge is a bonus (you care about what converts, not just how it looks)

  • Strong eye for design and detail – you care about layout, spacing and user journey

  • Previous agency or B2B client experience preferred

Perks & Benefits

  • Flexible part-time role (2–3 days/week)

  • Hybrid working – split your time between office (Brentwood) and home

  • Paid training budget to support your growth

  • Opportunity to work with a wide range of businesses and websites

  • Office closed between Christmas and New Year

  • Fun team environment, with regular socials, summer and Christmas parties

  • 1-minute walk from Brentwood station

  • Supportive team and direct access to decision makers — your ideas get actioned quickly
